Glen C Gyllenskog

Glen C DukeGyllenskog, 86, passed away August 4th at Williamsburg. He was born June 25, 1922 to Laura Christensen and John Rudolph Gyllenskog in Smithfield, the youngest of five children. He was educated in Smithfield and Richmond and graduated from North Cache High School.
Duke married Laurel Bateman July 3, 1945 in the Logan LDS Temple. They are the parents of five children, Jeff Susan, Sandy, Max Eva, Dan Pat, Jane, Joy Bob Page, all of Smithfield. He was the proud grandfather of 21 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.
He worked 35 years for Cache Valley Dairy as a long haul truck driver. He proudly hauled Cache Valley cheese all over the country including 116 trips to New York City. Later destinations included cities in Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, California, Oregon and Washington. He retired in 1987 with more than four million miles on the road.
As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as home teacher, extraction missionary, and as a temple worker. He is survived by his wife, Orvaneil Densley, five children, and six step children. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Laurel, two brothers, Grant and Art, and two sisters, Lenore and Afton.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 9, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Smithfield LDS Chapel , 79 East 200 South in Smithfield. Viewings will be August 8, 2008, 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, Smithfield, and Saturday August 9, 2008 12:30 – 1:30 at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
