Gladys McBride Bohi

August 23, 1918 — October 8, 2011

Gladys 'Ginger' McBride Bohi, 93, of Paradise, passed away Saturday October 8, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Hyrum, Utah on August 23, 1918, the daughter of Samuel McBride and Eliza Jane Hall McBride. Ginger grew up in the depression years when life was very difficult, so she learned the virtues of sacrifice, sharing, and honesty, and thus developed a strong and loving character. She was the middle sibling in a household of eight surviving children, the eldest being 13 years old when her mother passed away during childbirth. At the age of fourteen, she left home to work in the factories in Ogden. Later she worked at Godfrey's gift shop, at the Defense Depot during the war, at Swift and Company as a meat processor, and at the Ogden Hospital as a dietitian. She was a member of a bowling club and also a member of a skating club that performed exhibition skating. She loved the outdoors and beauties of nature, and spent many hours hiking, picnicking, rock and artifact hunting, and enjoying the wonders of God's creations. Ginger eventually met her future husband, Dell Bohi. They were married in Virginia City, Nevada on September 5, 1977 and settled in Paradise, Utah. She is survived by her brother, Darrell Ardyth McBride of Hyrum, Utah, and sister, Elva Hatch of Logan, Utah. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers and sisters, Rhoda McBride, George McBride, Violet Ricks, Austin McBride, Virgie McBride, Modest Hobbs, Leo McBride, and Rosella Maughan. Funeral Services will be held at noon Friday, October 14, 2011 in the Paradise 2nd Ward Chapel, 9100 S. Hwy. 165 200 West, Paradise, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday October 13 at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan, Utah, and from 10:30 - 11 :30 a.m. Friday prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Paradise Cemetery. Condolences may be sent online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com
