Gertrude Laub Burns

March 8, 1915 — December 18, 2003

Garland - Gertrude L. Burns, 88, passed away at the Bear River Valley Hospital. She was born in Fielding, Utah on March 8, 1915 the daughter of John and Belva Hess Laub. She married Walter Albert Burns on October 26, 1937 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She and her husband owned and operated Burns Market in Garland, Utah for 35 years.
Her life was spent loving and being with family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Garland 4th Ward and served as a Relief Society Secretary, Primary Teacher, Temple Worker and numerous other callings. She loved our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. She loved big family gatherings, especially at Christmas time. Mother loved camping with the Burns' and girls and enjoyed canning, gardening, games, helping and serving others and supporting her grandchildren. Surviving are her children: Judy Lee Combs, Las Vegas, NV, Diane Brent Ballard, Patty Kent McMurdie both of Tremonton, 17 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and one sister Gwen Cornwall, Tremonton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Linda Hill, two grandsons, Michael Coombs and Kevin Coombs, her brothers, Roland, Merrell, Max, and Rex and one sister Fern McDermott. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 22, 2003 at the Garland 4th Ward LDS Chapel located at 175 South Main, Garland. Friends and family may call on Sunday, December 21, 2003 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral home located at 111 North 100 East, Tremonton and also on Monday, December 22, 2003 from 9:30- 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at the Fielding Cemetery. A special thanks to the Bear River Valley Care Center, to all the nurses and the staff for their loving care and service to our Mother.
