George Phil Martinez Jr.

July 30, 1948 — August 1, 2004

At the young age of 56, our mate, father, grandfather and friend, has gone to live with his Father in Heaven after a massive heart attack. George was born on July 30, 1948 in Dragerton, Utah to George Phil Sr. and Angelina Martinez. On June 27, 1972 George married Leila Buttars of Trenton, Utah. They were married in the Logan, Utah Temple for all time and eternity. Even though they were only given ?32? short years on earth together, one day they will be together again to preside over their kingdom. George has been working at A.T. K. Thiokol for 7 years. He also retired from the Navy Reserve Seebees after 21 years of proud service. His son Georgie, whom he is so proud of, is carrying on a fourth generation of military service. George has been a resident of Trenton, Utah for 28 years. He was also a proud owner of a pink and purple P.T. Cruiser, which he loved to show off in many car shows. George left behind a beloved wife, Leila Kay Buttars; two daughters and one son: Angelina Robert Torres, Melissa Hugo Aguirre, George Corisha Martinez. He also left behind 7 grandchildren, who were his pride and joy: Orlando and Samantha Guadarrama; Angel, Antony and Izeja Torres; Jesse and Gisselle Aguirre. He always reminded his grandchildren that he loved them more than anything. He also left behind his mother, Angelina R. Martinez and his brothers and sisters: Issac Becky Martinez, Ruth Wells Johnson, Judy Don Ecker, Michelle Randy Wilkinson, Tammy Taylor, Herman Martinez, Billy Martinez, Joy Martinez and Jason Martinez. He was preceded in death by his father, George Phil Martinez Sr.; his brother, John Martinez; his mother-in-law, Sara Buttars and a brother-in-law, Marvin Buttars. We love you Dad and Grandpa. Please keep watching over us like always. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 5, 2004 at the Trenton City Cemetery. Friends and family may call Wednesday evening, August 4, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, Smithfield. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
