Geneva Nelson

March 18, 1916 — February 28, 2004

Garland - Alice Geneva Remington Bowman Nelson, 87, passed away at the McKay-Dee Hospital on Saturday, February 28, 2004. She was born on March 18, 1916 the daughter of Alson Hull and Edith Lavern Siler Remington. She married Alma Bowman on April 15, 1932 and later divorced. She married Billy Nelson in December of 1952 in Libby, Montana.
Geneva lived in various places, including Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, and Colorado, before returning to Utah in November of 1960. She owned and operated Bear River Cleaners in Tremonton, with her husband, Billy. She worked the majority of her life in the Dry Cleaning Business as well as for LaVerd Canfield as a bookkeeper and for Garland City Offices in the Green Thumb program. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served 12 years in the church as a genealogy extraction worker. She enjoyed attending the temple. She also served in scouting, cub scouting and as a visiting teacher for several years. Geneva was an avid gardener who could grow anything. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed doing handwork.
Surviving are five children; Jean Don Curtis of West Bountiful, Utah, William R "Bob" Toni Bowman of Soda Springs, Idaho, Phillip Faye Bowman of Superior, Montana, Maurine Stephen Jensen and David Nelson both of Garland, Utah; two sisters, Maxine Luce of Salt Lake City, Utah and Mae Richard Hammond of Salem, Oregon; 20 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Billy Nelson, three brothers, Merlin, Raymond, and Steely, and one grandchild, Kristy Lynn Bowman.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Garland 4th Ward Church located at 175 South Main, Garland. Friends and family may call on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home located at 111 North 100 East, Tremonton and Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church.
