Gary Nyman

Gary Nyman passed away June 19, 2014 in Paradise, Utah. He was born Hubert Gary Nyman on May 13, 1939 to Carl and Jean Nyman of North Logan, UT. He graduated from South Cache High School in 1957. He was drafted into the army and served 6 years during which he spent time in Korea. He worked many years as a carpet layer for Edwards Furniture. He spent over 20 years as a custodian for the Cache County School District. Sports were a big part of Gary's life. He played baseball and coached fast-pitch softball in the community. He also traveled around playing baseball and basketball during his time in the military. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees fan. Even at the end of his life, when he wasn't able to watch the games, he still listened. He was asking for updates on the Yankees score to the very end. He loved hunting deer and elk in Green Canyon on his horse, Brandy. He loved racing homing pigeons and did that for many years in the Rocky Mountain Racing Club. He also loved racing horses and attending cutter races. He married Sonja Seamons. They had two children together. Later, he married Evelyn Thompson on June 20, 1974. They were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple in January 1995. They have four children together.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, children, Gary Michael Nyman, Donna Kaye Stephen Bell, Nicole Jean Charles Lagemann, Timothy Daniel Nyman, Joshua Joseph Nyman, and Jason Andrew Nyman; brothers, Carl David Carol Ann Nyman, Cedar City, UT, Robert Burrell Nyman, Salt Lake City, UT, and Jeffrey Lynn Rose Nyman, Payson, UT; and four granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Dennis Burrell Nyman, and one sister, Lana Jean Nyman.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 23, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at the Paradise 4th Ward building, 155 E. 9400 S. Paradise, UT . A viewing will be held Sunday evening, June 22, 2014 from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home, 162 E. 400 N. Logan, UT. There will also be a viewing from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. on Monday prior to the services at the church. Interment will be held at the Paradise Cemetery.
