Gary Edward Gebs

Gary Edward Gebs passed away on November 1st, 2006. He was born June 30th, 1948 in Payson, UT to Edward and Aleene Loveless Gebs. He grew up in Payson, UT; New Orleans, LA; Salt Lake City, UT; Idaho Falls, ID; and Las Vegas, NV. It was in Las Vegas that he met and fell in love with his high school sweetheart and future wife of 40 years, Mary Jane Kinne. They were married in the St. George LDS temple on December 9th, 1966. They are the parents of 7 children. Gary loved to go on family vacations, especially if it involved the outdoors. His service with the Boy Scouts of America allowed him to go camping as often as he would like. He proudly served his country in the Navy on the U.S.S. Enterprise. He had many talents including fixing his children?s cars and building homes. He is survived by his wife Mary Jane, children Linda Troy Brown, Dwayne JoAnn Gebs, Shelley Brenton Burbank, Tawnee Dan McCay, Shane Marie Gebs, Ryan Elizabeth Gebs, Kristen John Seamons, 22 and counting grandchildren, and 7 siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 siblings, and 2 grandsons. Services will be held at the Smithfield North Stake Center, 155 West 400 North, on Saturday, November 4th at 2:00 p.m. A viewing will be held on Friday, November 3rd from 6-8 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan and Saturday morning at the church from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery with Military Honors presented by the Smithfield American Legion. Please come to celebrate Gary's life with us. Gary?s last months were spent visiting Yellowstone National Park, going on a cruise, and getting to visit with the people he loved the most, his family. As he liked to quote, ?Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Chocolate in one hand ? strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming WOO HOO ? What a Ride!?. Gary?s arrival on the other side has been anxiously awaited by his grandsons Tyrel and James. They are looking forward to teaching grandpa about the important things in the next life, just like grandpa used to teach others important things like how to paddle a canoe. Gary will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Gary taught us how to live well and how to die well. We love you!
