Gary Ray Conger

August 13, 1936 — January 14, 2005

Garland - Gary R. Conger "Couger" died January 14, 2005 of Esophageal Cancer. He was born August 13, 1936 to Ernie Ray & Merle Anderson Conger in Tremonton, UT. He graduated from Bear River High School and attended Utah State University for 2 years. While at USU Gary played basketball in 1959 and again for Air Force for 3 yr. and lettered four years in track. In 1949 & 50 he won A.A.U. Boxing Competition, in 1952 he won the Golden Gloves Championship. He lettered three years in basketball, baseball, and was All Region and All State Champion in 1955. Gary married Sharon Theurer and they were later divorced. He then married and spent the last 22 years with Jean Eskelson Conger. He served 4 yr. in the National Guard and 4 yr. in the Airforce. Gary was a member of FOE 2919 and was also an avid bird hunter and a terrific BBQ cook. He worked for 35 years at Thiokol Corp and retired in 1995. Gary is survived by his wife, Jean; son, Curtis R. Conger Ramona; daughter, Cristi Jo Fiedel, step children; Rebecca Parsons, Cynthia Eskelson, James David Eskelson; two grandchildren, Brandon Stimpson and T.J. Stimpson; step grandchildren, Jeff, Amber & Jade Parsons, Jamie Peden, Anthony Eskelson and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother; David, and three sisters; Connie Richardson, Jolene Sid Culter, Terry David Anderson, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and many aunts and uncles. Gary requested a family viewing and graveside service. Interment will be in the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. A special thanks to Alpine Hospice & Pioneer Care Center for the week of wonderful care they gave Gary.
