Garnel Petersen Poppleton, 88, passed away on December 25, 2001. He was born in Wellsville, Utah on January 9, 1913 to David Jeffs and Emma Petersen Poppleton. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held numerous positions including: temple officiator in the Logan Temple, mutual president, counselor, teacher, secretary and speech, dance and drama teacher, a home teacher and group leader of the Seventies. At the time of his death, he was a High Priest in the Logan 9th Ward. He was a former member and past president of the Trenton Lions Club. He liked to give readings and entertained people with them for many years. His favorite activity was temple work. He completed over 160,000 baptisms for the dead. In addition to his wife, Alice, he is survived by two sisters: Beulah Ed Neiderhauser and Jean Nelson, both of Ogden. He is also survived by two daughters: Nancy Don Wilson, Roy and June Terry Thedell, San Diego, California; two grandsons: Brian and Greg Thedell, San Diego; one granddaughter: Lisa Thedell, Provo; and one step-granddaughter, Laura Wilson, Las Vegas, Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Don, and his sisters: Elva, June and Valeen. Funeral services will be held at the Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan on Saturday, December 29, 2001 at 12:00 Noon. Friends and family may call from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
