Franklin Ting Fai Loo Franklin Ting Fai Loo, affectionately known as ?Papa Loo? by his grandchildren, children, friends, and family, died in his home in Torrance, California, on March 30, 2002, at the age of 68. Gentle, kind, generous, and loving, Papa Loo was a friend to all who met him. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and friend, he loved and embraced his family and friends with an unconditional love and acceptance that truly made him a rare individual. Papa Loo made everyone feel good and important. He served others incessantly. He always wore a smile and always had a listening ear. He just loved people. And they loved him back. Papa Loo was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on March 5, 1934, to loving parents, Tai Sing and Florence Loo. As a seven-year-old, while his father fought fires and worked in the rescue efforts, Papa Loo survived the bombing of Pearl Harbor while walking with his brother and two sisters to Sunday School. Later, Papa Loo honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army. Papa Loo?s heart made its way across the Pacific and to Utah when he married Karen Kaye Ramsdell of Bear River City in May of 1971. Karen?s family, Dewey and Flossie Ramsdell, Dee and Dixie Ramsdell, Sally and Boyd Munns, Ted and Marlene Ramsdell, Dick and Dorlynn Ramsdell, and Mike and Bonnie Ramsdell, and their respective families, adopted Papa Loo as one of their own and since that time, the past thirty years have been filled with wonderful memories as Papa Loo gave the Ramsdell Family their Chinese Hawaiian son and they gave him his Utah heritage. Papa Loo is survived by his wife Karen, his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Dennis Smith, their two children, Justin and Maile; his son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Vicki Taylor, and their four children, Tristen, Cruz, Alley, and Riley; his sister, Florence Baptist; his sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and William Lee; and many other family members and friends.
