Frank J. LaMont passed from this world to a better place on Friday, August 27, 2004 surrounded by his loved ones. He will be greatly missed. Frank was born on December 7th, 1924 in Preston, Idaho to Sarah Caroline Bodily and Frank Alder LaMont. He enlisted in the Marines on his 17th birthday, December 7, 1941. He fought in the Battle of Guadalcanal and in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was honorably discharged November 13, 1945. He married Thurma Stephens Kofoed on March 1, 1945. The marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple on July 3, 1946. She passed away on August 13, 1982. He married Arlene Pearl Rogers on August 17, 1984. The marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple on August 17, 1995. Frank loved the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing, especially with his family. He had a deep and abiding love for his family; they were at the center of his life. He was a High Priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and he had a true love for the gospel. Frank is survived by his wife, Arlene and children of his first marriage: Sherrin Val Thompson, Providence, UT; Arthur Bette LaMont, Nibley, UT; Kristy Royce Yarnell, Clearfield, UT; Jay Joyce LaMont, Hyrum, UT; Dean Liz LaMont, Corinne, UT; Wayne Roberta LaMont, Ripon, WI; Karl Pam LaMont, Spokane, WA; Kurt LaMont, Hyde Park, UT; Debbie Rex Hoopes, Baker, OR; Kelley Dan Berry, Hyrum, UT; one brother, Bert LaMont; forty grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and six stepchildren from his second marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Thurma, stepson Michael L. Calderwood, step-grandson, Brian R. Swartz, step son-in-law Eldon Draper. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 31, 2004, 12:00 Noon at the Providence 9th Ward, 309 South Main St., Providence. There will be a viewing held on Monday, August 30, 2004 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, also prior to services on Tuesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Church. Interment will be in the Hyrum City Cemetery where Military honors will be performed by the Hyrum American Legion. Online condolences may be extended to the family at
