Francis Petersen Brown

July 20, 1918 — February 2, 2011

Born July 20, 1918, "joined her angels" on Feb. 2, 2011.
She was the daughter of Charles Emil Petersen, owner of a lime kiln and Ida Rose Beutler, a homemaker to seven children: Alfred, Leona, Virginia, Isabell Karma, Francis and Rosezella, all deceased.
Francis, so beautiful, met a dapper Logan farm boy, Joseph Woodrow Brown, at a church dance. They wed November of 1936. Dad was a bookkeeper, glazier and a veteran. Eight years into their marriage he was drafted into the Army. He served in Korea. Dwain was 6, Betty, 4. During Dad's absence Mom was our example.
In 1952 our very little sister Nancy was born prematurely, 2 lb. 3 oz. Nancy, who flourished with Mom's love and care. In 1966 Dad began to weaken with MS. For the next 19 years Mom was his caregiver and constant companion. Dad left this earth when he was 68 leaving Mom a widow for 26 years. Grandma spent hours with her 11 grandchildren, 28 greats and 16 great-greats. She wrote clever stories and poems with pictures that so delighted them. They played Pollyanna, Peanuts and looked for penny bugs in the canal. Her doll cupboard was host to many tea parties.
Francis taught Primary and was a friend to the neighbor kids. In her little blue car she chauffeured friends and family to places they needed to go or for pleasure rides. She appreciated phone calls and visits from nieces, nephews and her Relief Society and home teachers. Mom was an excellent conversationalist and always entertaining.
We will all miss her love, wisdom and influence.
Dwain, Dallis Brown,
Betty, Darrell Ricks,
Nancy, Kraig Page.
At 92 years old, Mom was in her own home bottling peaches and repotting her plants. Due to a short and unexpected illness Mom left this earth,"to be our angel."
Our family would like to thank Logan Regional ICU and Logan Valley Nursing for the tender care Mom received during this past month. Julie Gardner of Hospice, you are the best.
A viewing will be held Saturday, Feb. 5 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. to be followed by a funeral service at 12 noon at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 E. 400 North, Logan. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
