Flossie Nora Buttars Atkinson

April 22, 1918 — November 17, 2011

Flossie B. Atkinson An eternal date made in the Salt Lake Temple on September 5, 1939 to Joseph Atkinson was fulfilled on November 17, 2011 as Flossie Atkinson 93 passed into a peaceful and glorious existence. In doing so, she leaves behind a bit of herself in the hearts of all who knew her. Her parents, Lou and Lottie Buttars were honored with the gift of her birth on April 22, 1918 in Clarkston. Her growing up years were enlightened with fun and loving memories with family, cousins, and friends. As a young girl, Flossie enjoyed riding horses for work, pleasure, and during her two years of rodeo queen days. She learned the art of hard work with her father on his farm in Clarkston, Joe and Flossie continued with the same art of reverence for the growth of the land and the breath of God?s soil by working on their farms in Trenton and Clarkston. As befit a woman of her extraordinary generation, Flossie was ahead of her time in taking her young daughter, Marlene to work with her for many years at Robson?s Store in Trenton. Music was a joyful and prayerful passion for Flossie her entire life. She filled many hearts with her songs. Now the heavenly choir has added another beautiful singing voice. Her wedding cakes and specialty cakes provided cherished memories for hundreds of recipients. Anyone coming through her front or back door felt her warm welcome, sparkling eyes, laughter, stories, meals, treats, and touched by her ability to make them feel special by her unconditional love and attention. She enjoyed genealogy, DUP, and the sacred honor of her pioneer heritage. Flossie?s life was centered around her beloved family as well as her eternal family. She was dedicated to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved serving in the Relief Society presidency, teaching the Sunbeam class and primary music. A loving thank you is extended to our medical family on the third floor at LakeView Hospital Bountiful. Left to enjoy her wonder memories and spirit are her daughter, Marlene Higgs, grandchildren, Troy and Kelly Bodrero, and Tanicia Bailey, great grandchildren, Ashlyn, Lilly, and Ethan Bailey, brother, Ross Buttars, sisters, Fawn lamb, Lottie Lou Phillips, and Belva Synder, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends. A visitation of welcome will be held on Monday, November 21, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home in Logan at 162 East 400 North. A funeral in her honor will be held on Tuesday, November 22, at noon at the Trenton LDS Ward Chapel, 1200 North 400 West. An additional visitation will be held prior t the funeral at the church from 10-11:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Clarkston Cemetery.
