Florine Ballif Durham, former Logan resident, passed away August 28, 2004 in Hilliard, Ohio after struggling with Alzheimer?s disease for the past thirteen years. Born of goodly parents in Logan, Utah, May 29, 1934, the seventh child of eight, she spent a happy, healthy childhood in town and on the farm, preferring the former, and making lifetime friends early in life and ingratiating herself unintentionally to her siblings one and all. She enjoyed music violin/singing with a lasting joy of singing beyond her declining years. She graduated from Logan High School in 1952, attended Utah State University, a very short time, receiving her M.R.S. degree and a new name, Mrs. Bryan Cottrell Durham on September 16, 1953 in the Logan Temple. Florine subsequently took employment to support her husband while he was on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She continued to be employed, lovingly and without guile, to allow her husband to finish school. Her first child, Chad, was born with joy and thanksgiving only to bring her to the depths of despair and anguish as his life passed shortly after. Son Connell, daughter Julee, and daughter Dyane were born and filled the utter void of the loss of Chad. In her heart, with love, innate desire and the instinct of motherhood, she devoted her life, time, talents, and love to her children with obvious success. Florine was spiritually endowed in ways that affected others, children, youth, and s alike to feel the pure love of Christ through faith, service, compassion and an unfailing testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Ever expressing love for her husband of 51 years in ways that extend beyond the verbal and physical, and giving new meaning to the phrase, ?and they twain shall be one,? her last words to her husband and in this life being, ?I love you?. Florine Ballif Durham will be remembered by friends and family as being happy, honest, loyal and fun. Her presence in our lives will be greatly missed with a lasting void that will not be filled ?until we meet again? in love. She is survived by her husband, Bryan Cottrell Durham; children: Florin Christina Connell Durham; Julee Wallace Durham Robinson; Dyane John Grant Durham Eisan; 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and a ?Grandma? to hundreds of others. She is also survived by her siblings: Serge Lyman MarJean Ballif; Richard Sara Terrell Ballif; Yvonne Marian Ballif Knighton; Joanne Ballif Cottrell; Don LaNece Robert Ballif; Ina Rae Ballif Knighton and a sister-in-law, Marian Ballif.
