Deweyville – Florence Hatch Beeton, 91, died at Our House assisted living of Tremonton, Monday, February 11, 2008. She was born October 9, 1916 in Pima, Arizona, the third child of Alvin Jeremiah and Margaret Cutler Hatch. After the death of her father in 1919 from complications resulting from breaking his arm while cranking a car, Florence moved with her mother, sister and two brothers to Corinne, Utah, to be near her grandparents, Ransom Joe and Emily Cope Cutler. Her mother became the Postmaster in Corinne, and Florence grew up and went to school there. She graduated from Box Elder High School in 1934 and attended business school in Salt Lake City. She married Thain Joseph Beeton October 14, 1937 in Ogden, Utah and moved to the house in Deweyville where she lived until 2006. Florence helped with the farm, packed tomatoes and worked at Allen Meat Plant for nearly 30 years. After retiring, she served as Deweyville Ward Librarian and did church history extraction for many years. She enjoyed crocheting and made many afghans and hot pads for family and friends. Many young couples in Box Elder County started their married lives with two of Florence's hot pads in their kitchens. In recent years, she has been greatly comforted and helped by her many friends and neighbors who visited regularly and assisted her with daily needs. Her nieces and nephew, Judy Beeton Orme of Tremonton and Resse and Nancy Ferry Beeton of Brigham City, have been especially attentive to Florence calling and visiting her on a regular basis. The Our House and Hospice staff members have greatly comforted Florence; special thanks goes to them for their love and care in Florence's final years. Her daughter, Beverly Beeton, Ph.D., of Anchorage, Alaska, survives her. Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Thain, in 1979 and her son, Rodney Joseph, who drowned at age twelve in 1954. The last few years, she has been keenly aware of her mother, father, sister, two brothers, husband, son, and many friends that preceded her. After a long life, she was ready to join them; her faith in a life after death comforted her. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 16, 2008 11:00 a.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton. Friends may call at the funeral home prior to the services from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Deweyville Cemetery.
