Eileen Bohnsack Frey, treasured mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed peacefully from this life on April 18, 2006. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Bert Frey.
Born in Othello, WA, Eileen grew up in Cape Girardeau, MO. She graduated from Southeast Missouri State Teachers College and taught first and second graders. She also studied art at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. She was an accomplished artist and taught art classes to adults in her home. Eileen married Bert Frey in 1942 and they began their life together in Buffalo, NY, where Bert was pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church. Eventually they moved to Fairview Park, OH, and served the parishioners at Messiah Lutheran Church and First Church in Strongsville. They had many close friends wherever they lived, including Cape Coral, FL, where they spent time in the winter during their retirement years. They also traveled to Europe, Mexico, South America, Greece, and the Middle East. In addition to her husband, Bert, Eileen was preceded in death by her two brothers Robert and Carlston Bohnsack, and her granddaughter, Kathryn Eileen Whitaker. She will be missed by her daughters and their husbands Marilyn and Jim Edwards, Martha and Bryan Whitaker, Lisë and Mac Davis, her grandchildren, Laurie, Jon and Karen, Kristy, Erin and David, Scott, Noah, and Cody, and her great grandchildren, Andrew, Michael, Timothy, and Elizabeth, as well as many relatives and friends. Special thanks to Arlene Bone, Pastor Corinne Thul, Dr. Bob Nash, Sunshine Terrace and IHC Hospice caregivers, and to all who loved and were loved by Eileen. A memorial service celebrating her life and her faith will be held at St. John?s Episcopal Church on Sunday, April 23, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Habitat for Humanity
