Logan - Evelyn Chambers Lee, wife, our best friend and mother, grandmother, strongest supporter and friend returned to her heavenly home Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at the age of 62 at the McKay Dee Medical Center in Ogden at 8:45 p.m. peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Mom began her mortal journey here on earth on July 30, 1942 as a beloved daughter of Lois Ravsten and Glen Chambers in Logan, Utah. An older brother, Sterling Paul, welcomed her and another brother Eldon Vance joined them two years later. Our Mom grew up in Smithfield, Utah attending grade school and junior high there and graduated from North Cache High School in Richmond Utah. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many capacities. Mother loved best her callings in teaching Primary and Relief Society. Her faith and testimony grew stronger with each passing year of her life. Mom worked at Thiokol, Utah Mortgage Loan, CID and Utah State University. Of all her positions, she most enjoyed the work with the many outstanding people in the Consortium for International Development where the degree you had was not the measure of your worth. When the offices of CID moved from the Utah State campus to Tucson, AZ, mom and the three kids moved with them. Though mom loved CID and Tucson, the kids were homesick for Utah and so they returned to Logan to be closer to family. After working for Moore Business Forms for a year upon her return to Cache Valley, mom returned to work at USU, for a year in Affirmative Action. She accepted a position in the Dean?s Office in the College of Business where she worked as an assistant to the dean until her retirement April 30, 2004. She worked under five USU presidents, three deans, and 17 department heads. Mom enjoyed and treasured the friendships of many across campus and in the college. Evelyn married Richard LaMont Telford on June 29, 1963. They were later divorced. Mom was blessed with four choice children, Loril Stephens Ed, Leesa Wolfe Allen Logan, UT, Mitchell Glen Telford Davy Smithfield, UT, and Lincoln William Telford Helene Deltona, FL. After seventeen years of being a single mom, she married the love of her life, Robert E. Lee for time and all eternity in the Logan LDS Temple on August 7, 1992. Through this union with Bob, her family increased with Bob?s two daughters; Claresa Angel, Salt Lake City, and Cynthia Layman, Clearfield, UT. Between mom and Bob they enjoyed all the blessings of having eleven wonderful and talented grandchildren to spoil and take on mini vacation trips. These grandchildren brought into her life great joy and companionship. To really know our mom you have to understand how much she loved animals. Mom and Bob inherited a dog from Lincoln. Rummell, whom she loved dearly and was considered part of the family. No dog was ever more loved than this one! Mom loved music! She loved to sing with her lovely voice, play the organ and listen to the beautiful music. She said it could reach inside her and touch her soul in ways that nothing else could. Though mom loved Rummell and music, that did not compare to her love for her children and the gospel of Jesus Christ. During those seventeen years as a single mom, she taught us the value of work and doing the job right the first time. Mom taught us to think in terms of can dos, not can nots and to become independent. We did not have a lot of material possessions but we were rich in love. Mom saw to it that we had many good times together as a family. One of mom?s many talents was decorating our apartments/homes so beautifully and somehow she was able to make us look good in the process too. Our mom was so proud of our achievements in life and was always there supporting us in all that we did. You see she was our greatest Cheerleader. Mom taught us about love and equally important she taught us about forgiveness. Our mom, grandma, wife and friend left our life much too soon but we will blow her a kiss and send it on the wind because we know we will see her again! Love leaves memories in the heart. Evelyn was preceded in death by her best friend and beloved mother; Lois Ravsten Chambers on July 24, 1997. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, June 4 at the 10th-29th Ward LDS church house located on 792 N 500 E in Logan, UT. Friends and family are welcomed to pay their respects from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, at the Nelson Funeral Home, 162 E 400 N in Logan, and also from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. on Saturday prior to services at the church.
