Evelyn Rose Lawrence returned to her Heavenly Father, and the loving embrace of her parents and sisters on Tuesday, January 27, 2015, with family at her side. Ev was born to Harold and Thelma Lawrence on June 5, 1943 in St. Anthony, Idaho. She became part of a family of two sisters and two brothers, and later another sister.
Ev lived a life of love. First, for her family. She lived close to her parents the majority of her life and was dedicated to their well-being and care. She would also frequently travel to be with other family members and especially enjoyed time with nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews doing almost anything they wanted. For several years, Ev spear-headed the multi-generational family reunions that brought everyone back together for a wonderful time. It was always important to her to have memories with those she loved.
Her second love was sports. At a young age, she learned the love for the “game” whatever it was. She always had a ball with her to play catch or start a game in the front yard or at family reunions. Ev also played various sports, from tennis to softball, and received several awards and trophies throughout her life. She had her favorite teams and was a dedicated fan. As an adult, many a friend get together would be over the lunch hour playing tennis and many a friendship started as team members.
She had many other loves, including pets, poetry and Utah State University. Ev had a special relationship with her dogs and cats, and they meant the world to her. Her poetry was an expression of who she was, and of her perspective on life. Ev saw the world and the people in it simply as an opportunity to love and give more.
Utah State University was not only her alma mater, graduating in June 1965 with a B.A. in Writing and Mass Communications and a minor in English, but also her place of employment for 26 years in the field of communications. She considered her time at USU as one of her major accomplishments in life. She often referred to the wonderful opportunities she had there and the incredible people she met.
She is survived by her loving siblings, Elaine Coats, Wes (Lila) Lawrence, Bill (Sally) Lawrence, and Ruth (Rodger) Woodward. She is preceded in death by her parents Harold and Thelma Lawrence, and sisters Norma Lawrence and Mary Lawrence Gray.
