Evelyn West Johnson, 87, of Smithfield, Utah, passed away June 1, 2006 at the Logan Regional Hospital while surrounded by many loving family members. Evelyn was born to Frank LeRoy West and Hannah Lillian Judd on December 20, 1918 in Morgan Utah. When Evelyn was three months old, her mother Lillian died from influenza. Evelyn was then taken care of by her Aunt Belle until her father married Martha Sparrow. She attended schools in Cache County and graduated from North Cache High. Evelyn married Lenard Earl Johnson on June 22, 1938. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple February 8, 1957. They became the proud parents of 6 sons and 5 daughters. The family lived in Avon, Utah from 1938 until 1951. They then moved to Smithfield where Evelyn lived until the time of her death. Evelyn was employed by Cache Valley Dairy for over 28 years. She made many dear, life-long friends during her employment at the dairy. She retired in 1990. Being very artistic, Evelyn developed her talent and skill with oil painting. All of her children and many of her grandchildren are blessed to have one or more of her paintings. These paintings will be treasured for many years to come. Evelyn also had many other gifts and talents, some of which were quilting, crocheting and making homemade bread and jam. Yet Evelyn?s greatest attribute was the love she shared with each child, grandchild and great-grandchild. These beautiful children were Evelyn?s greatest joy. For over 20 years Evelyn could be found on a Friday night serving in the Logan Temple. Along with her service in the temple, she faithfully fulfilled many other church callings. Evelyn always had a smile and kind word for everyone she met. She will be remembered with fondness and missed greatly by all who knew and loved her.
