Etta Clara Yost Federico

November 24, 1921 — December 9, 2003

Etta Clara Yost Federico, 82, left her earthly life on December 9, 2003. Mom was born on November 24, 1921, in Bancroft, Idaho, to John Christian and Katie May Johnson Yost, the second of six children. She married Rudolph V. Tino Federico in the Logan LDS Temple on March 21, 1947. She is survived by her husband and four children: Roma Tom Lee, Dee Jay Marjorie Federico, Judy Monson and Debbie Wayne Thomas. Surviving brothers and sisters are Grant Lenore Yost; Barbara Wayne Hubbard, and Larry Ladean Yost. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Darva John Bench, brother Jay C. Yost, and special grandchildren, Toya Thomas and Kevin Wheeler. Cache Valley was Mom?s home for nearly her entire life. She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. In grade school, Mom was a champion jacks player. She also excelled in spelling and math. When Mom was about 13, she contracted rheumatic fever. She always felt this event led to heart problems in her later years. In 1943, Mom went to work for Mode-O-Day, where she was an expert seamstress. This job turned into a career that would span 37 years until she retired in 1980. She had many good memories and friends from the years she spent working at Mode-O-Day. Mom was always a good example to us and blessed our lives. We are grateful for the time we had with her and for the memories that will be with us always. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday. December 13, 2003, in the Smithfield North Stake Center, 161 West 400 North, with Bishop Clair Larkin conducting. Family and friends are invited to a viewing at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, Smithfield on Friday evening, December 12, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the Smithfield North Stake Center on Saturday morning, December 13, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery. As a family, we wish to extend our thanks for the compassionate care Mom received from the doctors and nurses at the Logan Regional Hospital. Condolences to the family may be extended online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
