Logan ? Esther Avilda Serine Torgersen Sanders, 91, passed away at the Logan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Tuesday, November 19, 2002 due to causes incident to age. She was the ninth child of eleven born to Theodore and Hannah Haaversen Torgersen on January 11, 1911 in Stavanger, Norway. She moved to the United States when she was 18. She married Virgil Sanders on March 6, 1932 in Lovell, Wyoming. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 15, 1955. The couple was blessed with seven children, Marjorie Lawrence S. Kelsey of Ogden; Darrell Saralee of Billings, Montana; Marilyn Allen Albach of Provo; Howard of Grand Junction, Colorado; David deceased and Richard of Amalga. Esther was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and loved the gospel. She accepted all of her callings happily. She served a mission with her eternal companion,Virgil, to California from 1979 to 1981. She loved to can and always had her shelves full of the latest fruits and vegetables from the garden. She was a master at crocheting and knitting, teaching her daughters and granddaughters the art. Her family was blessed with her many works each year at Christmas, especially her famous slippers. She was a quiet lady of grace and beauty, and if you knew her, you loved her and her sweet Norwegian accent. The past two years she has lived at the Logan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Esther is survived by her husband of 70 years and six of her children. Her posterity includes 29 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren with one on the way, and 5 great great grandchildren. Her parents, brothers and sisters all preceded her in death, along with her son David, a grandson, Bruce Albach, a great grandson, Virgil Albach, a son-in-law, Lawrence S. Kelsey and a great granddaughter, Sabrina Kae Kelsey. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 22, 2002 at the Benson Stake Center, 6521 North 2400 West, Amalga at 12:00 noon with Bishop Lloyd Jenson conducting. Friends and family may call at the church from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be at the Clarkston City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Nelson Funeral Home.
