Emerene Arvilla Christensen Anderson

Emerene Arvilla Christensen Anderson, passed from this life July 10, 1914. She was born October 1, 1914 at Bear River City, Utah the daughter of Nels Ephraim and Ida Braegger Christensen.
Emerene married Golden Anderson at Elko, Nevada on December 30, 1954. They were sealed together for time and all eternity in the Logan LDS temple, December 19, 1969.
She grew up in Bear River City and graduated from Bear River High School and LDS Seminary, where she was the speaker. Emerene graduated from Weber College and Utah State Agricultural College with degrees in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Elementary Librarian and Special Educator.
Emerene began teaching school at Clear Creek, Utah and she taught at Collinston, Plymouth, Garland, Bothwell and Mckinley School in Tremonton, Utah. Her teaching spanned fifty years. The fifty first years she spent cataloging the library books at the Mckinley School.
She was a member of NEA, UEA, BEEA and AERO Space Education. In 1973 she was chosen as one of the outstanding teachers of America. She held a position in the presidency of the BEEA and numerous other committee positions.
She was a member of the LDS Church serving as a Primary and Sunday School teacher, counselor in the Y.W.M.A., and as a dance and drama director. She was an extraction worker, and spiritual needs person in the Relief Society. Emerene volunteered at the Tremonton Senior Citizens Center from 1984 to 2002 as a commodity giver.
She was a member of the Bothwell Town Board from 1991 to 2001 as a Cemetery Consultant and Bookkeeper. She did all the genealogy of the Bothwell cemetery.
Emerene is survived by two brothers: Boyd Wanda Christensen of Layton, Utah and Odell Ida Christensen of Salem, Utah; a special nephew, Gary B. Christensen of Grandview, Washington, whom she mothered. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Karen, and two sisters: Damsel Christensen Nelson and Janae Christensen Duke. Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 18, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bothwell LDS Church, 10350 West 11600 North, Bothwell, UT. Friends may call Thursday, July 17, 2008 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Hom, e 111 North 100 East Tremonton, UT and Friday, July 18, 2008 from 9:30 – 10:40 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral services. Interment will follow the services in the Valley View Cemetery, Bothwell, UT.
