Elzina Hess Stuart

August 19, 1906 — September 1, 2003

Ella Hess Stuart sister, mother, and friend passed away on September 1st 2003 at the age of 97 years old. She was the 13th child of the 14 children of James Henry Hess and Elizabeth White, born August 19, 1906 in Fielding, Utah. She was raised in Fielding, Utah and graduated from Bear River High School. During high school she played in the orchestra and enjoyed writing poetry. She continued to write poetry and enjoy music throughout her life.
In September 1925 she married Wallace H. Stuart. Her husband, Wallace passed away in 1976. They had made their home in Clarkston, Utah for all of those happy 51 years. Wallace and Ella raised two children, Loa and Warner. Ella served in the LDS church as a teacher, visiting teacher and chorister. She was a member of the Daughter of the Pioneers. She also spent many hours volunteering at the Senior Citizens and helping out whenever and wherever she could serve. Ella loved gardening and for many, many years had a bountiful vegetable garden. She raised a beautiful and plentiful raspberry patch. These were enjoyed by her children and grandchildren every summer. Ella liked to raise chickens. Ella loved to bake bread, pies, rolls and cookies. She also made candy, peanut brittle and honey kisses being her specialty. Again her family and friends often enjoyed the fruits of her labor at Sunday dinner, picnics and harvest time. Whoever visited Wallace and Ella was always invited to take home some of Ella?s homemade items.
She enjoyed crafts, quilting, crocheting, and knitting. When she made an item there was always at least 5 of everything made, one for each of her grandchildren. Later she would crochet 19 of everything, one for each of her great grandchildren. And even the 3 great-great grandchildren have received handmade items from Grandma Stuart. Grandma Stuart was the best grandma in the world.
Ella is survived by her two children, VaLoa Theron Leishman of Logan, Utah and Warner Maxine Stuart of Thatcher, Idaho. Ella has left a heart print on all of her posterity; she has become part of them through her love, generosity and example. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, September 4, 2003 at the Clarkston City Cemetery in Clarkston, Utah.
