Ogden/Tremonton ? Elwin Nephi Ross, 74, passed away at his home Tuesday, January 16, 2007. Elwin was born October 12, 1932 at the home of his grandparents in West Point, Utah to Nephi H. and Vera King Ross. Elwin was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The first years of his life were spent in Arapahoe, Wyoming, where his father worked for the government. He loved Wyoming, his friends and his carefree life. He joined the army at age 17. He felt it his duty to serve his country.
He married Jane Hooper, September 30, 1953. They had six children together and later divorced. He married Norma Jean Willie February 21, 1970. They were married 31 years, and then they were divorced. She remained his best friend until the end. Elwin worked for the Ogden Stockyards, Las Vegas, City, Weber County, and retired from Tremonton City. Elwin loved raising and training Border Collie Stock Dogs.
Elwin is survived by his devoted friend, Norma Jean, his children: Sherrie Lance Hunting, Bob Sharon Ross, Kevin Ann Ross, Shawnee Ross, Tammy Oliver, Cindy Roberts, and five stepsons, 21 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers: Royce Arlene Ross, Leon Ronda Ross, and his special aunt, Leatha Read. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Chad, and his parents. Elwin would like to thank his brother Leon for all of his loving care.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 20, 2007 at1:00 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton. Friends and family may call from 12:00 noon to 12:45 p.m. Interment at Tremonton Riverview Cemetery
