Elvin Alonzo Christiansen; beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather and friend to all passed away peacefully at home on 7 March 2007. Elvin was born to Bertha and Bernhardt Christiansen. He was the second of six children, four, Henry, Lida, Elma and Norma of whom preceded him in death Elvin graduated from Manti High School in 1936 and attended Snow College. He served an LDS Mission in the Western States from 1940-1942. He also served a Stake Mission in the Salt Lake City Utah, South Highland Park Stake. In order to help protect our freedom Elvin enlisted in the US Army to ensure his descendants could enjoy the same way of life, he served honorably in the 1158th Engineer Brigade stationed in Europe during WWII. Before departing for overseas duty he met and later married his sweetheart Elaine Thompson on 5 June 1944 in the Manti Temple. After fulfilling his military commitment Elvin returned to Utah were he attended Trade Technical College and acquired the skills of expert welder. Elvin?s skills, outgoing personality and expert knowledge of welding earned him a position as a Sales Representative for Whitmore Oxygen Company. After retiring from Whitmore Oxygen he substituted at Granite High School for 2 weeks and subsequently was requested to fulfill a fulltime teaching position. After being diagnosed with diabetes he was forced to give-up teaching which he truly enjoyed. Elvin loved the Gospel, family, fishing, hunting and camping. Survived by his wife, Elaine of 62 ½ years, five children Leslie Bob, Arlene Ken, Doug Lesley, Norman Debbie, JoLynne Chris, brother Galen, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Elvin was preceded in death by a daughter, Colleen, and his parents. The family wishes to thank At Home Hospice for the unbelievable love and care give to both of us. Each of those in the office and aides could not have done more. Enough love and gratitude can not be expressed to our nurses, Laurie, DeAnna, and Katy.
