Eloise Karren Meyer passed away March 1, 2012 surrounded by her loving family at the Promise Hospital in Salt Lake City. She was born May 3, 1934 in Lewiston, Utah, the only daughter of Hyrum and Delecta Karren and welcomed and adored by three brothers. She married her devoted sweetheart, Lloyd Meyer, on Nov 23, 1954 in the Logan Temple and enjoyed 57 years together. Mom and Dad were blessed with 5 daughters and 3 sons - Christine Steve Curtis, Providence; Bonnie Randy Hunt, Farmington; Mike Lisa Meyer, Fruit Heights; Sue Fred Beck, Providence; Pam Brad Rich, St. George; Nancy Dave Griffin, Newton; Aaron JoAnna Meyer, Draper; and Jeff Traci Meyer, Farmington. Mom's greatest love was her family. She was also a loving grandmother to 42 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She raised her family in Smithfield where they lived for 57 years and also spent time in Montana and California supporting her husband in the Meyer Honey Company. Mom had a strong testimony of the gospel and a love of the Savior. She loved serving in all areas of the church especially with the youth. She and dad served two missions- Des Moines, Iowa, and in Munich, Germany-Austria. She served as a temple officiator for 3 years and as a stake missionary. Mom also enjoyed the great relationships she made while working as a secretary in the LDS Seminary Area office for 13 years.
Mom had a great love for music and was a gifted accompanist and also taught many piano students in her home. She was a friend to everyone she met and especially enjoyed lunch dates with many dear friends. Her happiest times were when the family was gathered around her. She loved reunions and vacations, Hawaii, Lake Powell, and Bear Lake were some of her favorites.
She is survived by her immediate family; Two brothers, Sid Karren Renee, Lewiston; Nate Karren Olivia; Caldwell, Idaho; and sister-in-law Carma Karren, Bountiful. She is also survived by many special brothers and sisters-in-law – John and Verna Anderson, Afton Meyer, Richard and Arlene Keysor, Mildred Earl, and Floyd and Rae Meyer. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Boyd Karren, a granddaughter, and a great grandson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 7, 2012 in Smithfield, Utah at the Smithfield 10th ward on 451 South 250 East at 12:00 noon. A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening at Nelson Funeral Home in Smithfield from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and Wednesday, prior to the service at the church from 10:00 to 11:30 am. The family wishes to thank the staff at the UofU medical center and the Promise Hospital for their kindness and loving care they provided for our mom and family.
