Elmo Warren was born in Freedom, Wyoming on November 6, 1918. He died on August 5, 2007 in Layton, Utah. He was the fifth of eleven children born to Annie Stumpp and Ivan Walter Warren. On July 6, 1944 he married Verla White in the Logan LDS Temple. They were married for sixty-three years at the time of his death.
Elmo served his country during the Second World War. He was proud to serve his country and thought this was the most important war.
He lived his early life in Star Valley, Wyoming and loved to be in the mountains. He liked to herd sheep and cut wood while enjoying the mountains. He also loved to hunt and fish. He also lived in Saratoga, Wyoming, and spent the last forty-five years in Amalga, Utah. He loved to garden and then share the bounty with others. He was especially happy when he could grow a watermelon or cantaloupe. He loved to joke and tease and would spend hours retelling funny events. He liked to tickle his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served a mission with his wife in the Jackson, Mississippi Mission. He often shared with these wonderful people his deep testimony of the gospel.
Elmo is survived by his wife, Verla; children: Ivan Susan Warren, Smithfield, Utah; Orvetta Myrl Thurston, Riverton, Utah; Al Penny Warren, Fonde Luc, Wisconsin; Willard Lisa Warren, Phoenix, Arizona; Lauralee Dale Sparrow, Roy, Utah; twenty-four grandchildren; forty-eight great grandchildren; and two sisters: Bessie Call and Rhea Higley. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, one sister, his son, Russell, his grandsons, Qwin Warren and Travis Warren, granddaughter, Andrea Warren and grandson-in-law, Ryan Merrill.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2007 at the Amalga Ward Chapel, 6521 North 2400 West, Amalga, Utah. A viewing will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Freedom, Idaho Cemetery on Saturday, August 11, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be extended to the family online at
