Tremonton, UT – Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Ellenor May Perry Petersen, 87, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, January 22, 2008 after filling her life and the lives of others with kindness, love and service.
She was born, a twin, January 7, 1921 in Willard, UT to Lorenzo Dan and Caroline Kunzler Perry.
She graduated from Weber College in 1940 with a two-year degree in education. She attended Utah State University and graduated with a three-year normal degree in 1942 and was able to teach because of WWII.
She attended the University of Utah to complete her B. S. Degree in Elementary Education. Through her devotion and dedication, she touched countless lives for 33 years as an Elementary School Teacher in Garland and Tremonton Schools.
She married Scott Allen Petersen, August 23, 1944 in the Salt Lake Temple with Elder John A. Widtsoe officiating. Scott passed away May 1, 1995.
Her life was centered around her family and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the beneficiaries of a legacy founded in love.
Ellenor was an active member of the Penrose, Tremonton 4th, Tremonton 1st Wards and the Cache 1st Branch; serving as Teacher of Gospel Doctrine, Spiritual Living Classes; Relief Society President, MIA President, Genealogical Advisor, Name Extractor and Temple Officiator at Logan Temple for nine years. She did extensive genealogical research doing over 3, 600 endowments.
Her faith was strong and she never wavered. She was an example of courage and strength to all who knew her and she was truly loved by all.
She and her husband traveled extensively to 21 LDS Temples, to Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Tahiti, Samoa, New Zealand, Australia, Tonga, Alaska, England, Egypt, Rome, Netherlands and Hawaii.
She is survived by two children: Scott Alan, Brigham City and Mary Eileen Morrison, Blackfoot, ID; seven grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Spackman, Trenton, UT.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Sterling Perry; her parents; four sisters: Ida Young, Lena Hubbard, Barbara Larkin and her twin, Ellen Hunsaker; three brothers: Wesley, Elmer Reed and Lorenzo Dan.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 28, 2008 11:00 a.m. at Tremonton Stake Center, 660 North 300 East, Tremonton. Friends and family may call from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 27, 2008 at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton and Monday from 9:30-10:40 a.m. at the church. Interment at Tremonton Riverview Cemetery.
