Elizabeth W. Adamson Johnson, 83 of Logan, Utah, returned to her Heavenly Father on April 22, 2011. She had been recuperating in the Logan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a short illness.
She was born February 17, 1928, in Franklin, Idaho, the daughter of Merle Eugene Adamson and Margaret Whitehead Adamson. She was the older of two children. She attended and graduated from Franklin High School in 1946. On June 22, 1949 she married her eternal sweetheart Richard Ellis Johnson in the Logan Temple. She was proud to be the wife of an Air Force officer and she felt her greatest accomplishment was caring for and raising six wonderful children while stationed in many locations throughout the world. She was attentive, loving and willing to sacrifice for her children. Because of her influence and goodness, she made them who they are today. She enjoyed cooking and planning family parties. Shrimp salad and chocolate chip cookies were just a couple of her many famous recipes. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served faithfully in many callings such as: Stake Relief Society President, member of the Young Women's Presidency, and Primary worker just to name a few. She also served others through many tireless hours as a hospital volunteer. In addition, she provided many years of care for her own parents as well as her husband's.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Col. Richard E. Johnson ret. of Logan, Utah; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Brenda Johnson of West Jordan, Utah; son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Wendy Johnson of Woodlands, Utah; son and daughter-in-law, Gregg and Tracy Johnson of Layton, Utah; son and daughter-in-law, John and Theresa Johnson of Millville, Utah; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Clay Broadbent of Logan, Utah; daughter and son-in-law, Liz and Ron Olson of Smithfield, Utah. She is also survived by 33 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Elizabeth Johnson was preceded in death by her parents, Merle Eugene and Margaret Adamson; brother and sister-in-law Gene and Rene Adamson.
She was loved greatly and will be missed immensely. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Noon, in the Cliffside 1st Ward Chapel, located at 1380 East, 25 North, Logan, Utah. A viewing will be held from 9:30-11:30 a.m. prior to funeral services.
The family would like to thank all of the many doctors and nurses who provided care for Elizabeth through the years, especially Dr. Nash and Dr. Saul. In addition, thank you to the wonderful and caring staff at the Logan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and to her favorite therapist, Mark Jorgensen.
