Elizabeth Low Brown

Local artist, mother and grandmother, Elizabeth ?Liz? Low Brown, 62, died April 29, 2007 in her home in Logan, UT. Born July 16, 1944 in Cardston, Alberta Canada to Ross K. and Mary L. Duce Low, Liz was bright and creative from the start. She came from Canada to Provo to attend Brigham Young University where she studied fine art and secondary education. She married Larry J. Brown on May 2, 1969 in the Salt Lake temple. The couple lived in Springville, UT, where daughter Monica Mielle Brown was born. The following year, the small family returned to Calgary, Alberta where it grew to include daughter, Mirinda ?Mindi? Colleen Brown, and two sons: Cameron Dale and Kayson Joel Brown. Liz continued to do freelance art including sculpture, watercolor, and wood burnings while raising her four children in Canada and later in Blanding, UT. In 1985 the family relocated to Logan, where she finished her Bachelor of Arts and earned a Master of Fine Arts degree at Utah State University. She subsequently taught art at Weber State University and was the art director for the AVA Bullen Center in Logan. She is remembered for her unceasing creativity, intelligence, love of God, nature, her children and particularly her grandchildren. She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Monica and Shaun Kelly of Orem, UT; Mindi and Donald Schiffman of Logan, UT; Cameron and Danessa Brown of St. Charles, MO; Kayson and Daniele Brown of Salt Lake City, UT; and eleven grandchildren with one more on the way. She is also survived by her mother, Mary Low of Cardston, Alberta Canada and three of four siblings: Ron Low, Owen Low, and Rita Bailey. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her father, Ross and brother, Jim. A memorial will be held Saturday May 5, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Logan Hillcrest 2nd Ward Chapel, 875 North 1500 East, with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. A brief graveside service will follow at the Logan Cemetery. A showing of her art, including over a decade of previously unseen work, is free and open to the public from 1:00 ? 3:00 p.m. at the Bullen Center, 43 South Main Street, Logan gallery in the Ellen Eccles Theater complex.
