Elaine Claiborn Burkey Elaine Claiborn Burkey, 90, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2011, at her residence in Sunshine Terrace, Logan. She was predeceased by her parents, Jack D. and Emily Wall Claiborn, of Twin Falls, Idaho and her husband, R. J. Burkey. She is survived by three brothers, William L. Claiborn, of Twin Falls, Idaho, Jack Claiborn, Jr., of Kimberly, Idaho, and Edward L. Claiborn of Lexington, Virginia and by four nieces and five nephews. Elaine was born in Twin Falls, Idaho on March 11, 1921, and was brought up on her parents' farm in Kimberly, Idaho. She married Mr. Burkey July 1, 1942, and they lived for many years in Ogden, where he was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad. Her residence for many years was in Washington Terrace, where she was a devout member of the Community United Methodist Church, and an active member of the church choir. She became an avid traveler, enjoying several ocean cruises and long-distance trips to California and Virginia to visit family. In 1999, she moved to her Logan residence at Sunshine Terrace. There, she enjoyed many activities and diversions provided by the staff. A memorial service will be held at the Nelson Funeral Home in Logan on Thursday, March 31st at 1:00 P.M. A family dinner will follow at the home of Kelley and Wade Fallin in Hyde Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community United Methodist Church, 163 W 4800 S, Ogden, UT 84405, or to a charity of one's choice.
