Eithel Marble Kerr died October 28, 2006. Born February 28, 1911 at Deweyville, Utah, to Nathaniel Peter and Harriet Adelaide Loveland Marble. Married Leon Harding Kerr February 6, 1931; solemnized in the Logan Temple November 26, 1931.
She made the world a better and more beautiful place with her strong work ethic that let her put 25 hours into a day; her love of people, flowers, and cooking; her unselfish giving to others; and her faith in Jesus Christ.
Labor on the family farm gave her a work ethic that allowed her to accomplish more in a day than most people can in a week. Advocating education for women before it was vogue, she insisted her daughters receive a university degree. To make this possible, she worked as a nurse?s aid at Bear River Valley and McKay Dee hospitals and answered the phone for the Tremonton Fire Department and for the local mortician. She and Leon also owned and operated the Marble and Sandman motels. Her passion for flowers, trees, and anything that grew made her a master gardener, resulting in an award-winning yard. She loved people and showed it by sharing her cooking, candy making, flowers, time, and talents. She treated motel guests with baked goodies, even home-cooked meals on holidays, and a free room if they needed it. A neighbor suffering from ill health or sorrow found Eithel?s food, flowers, and kind heart on their doorstep. Her home was a haven where everyone found unconditional love, peace, good food, laughter, and encouragement. She was a worthy recipient of the Tremonton Civic League Mother of the Year in 1985. She loved the Lord and magnified her callings in the LDS church. Working with the youth was her favorite calling. Those she taught continued to visit her throughout her life. She accepted a Relief Society calling that stretched her timid nature, and she was rewarded with many good friends and good memories. In her advanced years, she enjoyed being ward librarian because she could visit with the ward members. She loved the missionaries and faithfully stocked their pantry. She leaves a legacy of obedience, love, and service to her Lord and to all mankind. She is preceded in death by her husband; her siblings Earl Marble, Luella Sandall, Jennie Nielsen, Edith , and Dorothy Hendricks; and two daughters Janalee Clyde Bessinger and Bonita Rae Calvin Carter and two grandchildren. She is survived by two sisters?Alta Johnson and Cleo Denler and three daughters?Kayla Clayton Gabbert; Louise Jim DeMoux; and Micheale Curt Webb; 19 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
