Effie Jane Moyes Larson

September 19, 1915 — May 12, 2007

Effie Jane Moyes Larson passed from this life on May 12, 2007 in her home in Logan. She was born on September 19, 1915 in Lyman, Wyoming. She was the second child and second daughter of David Gowans Moyes and Geneva Maryett Walker. She spent her teen years in Murtaugh, Idaho where she went to all 12 grades of school. During the summer between her senior year and her first year in college, Effie met Lloyd Larson, who would eventually become her husband. Lloyd and Effie were married in Kimberly, Idaho on July 5, 1935 and sealed in the Logan Utah Temple on March 10, 1944. Effiie and Lloyd moved to Oregon where they purchased 80 acres. They had many wonderful friends and were active in the Independent branch and eventual ward of the LDS Church in Payette, Idaho. Effie was always there to lead the singing and held many other leadership positions in the church. For several years, Lloyd and Effie were the ward, stake, and regional dance directors and taught many of the youth to love dancing. They were always the life of the party! They lived in Oregon until 1956 when they moved from the Oregon Slope to Murtaugh, Idaho. They lived and farmed in Murtaugh until 1965 when they moved to Logan, Utah. While in Logan, Effie worked for many years at Utah State University in the food services department. Her recipe for ?frozen fruit salad? is still used today on campus. She served as a Relief Society President as well as other positions in their wards in Logan. Lloyd and Effie served a full time mission in Holbrook, Arizona in 1977-78. This mission was a fulfillment of a dream that Lloyd had always had since he was not able to serve as a young elder. Effie?s sweetheart, Lloyd, passed away on August 24, 1995 at 80 years of age. She has lived in her home in Logan since then. Effie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lloyd and a grandson, Darryl, as well as her parents, two sisters and two brothers. Effie is survived by one sister, Marva Dale Peterson of Murtaugh, Idaho. Her children: Odell Dixie Larson of Grand Junction, Colo; Donna Daniel Davidson of Logan, Ut; David Carma Larson of Draper, Ut; Larry Arlene Larson of Richmond, Ut; and Steven Fredrick Janet Larson of Humble, Tx. Her posterity now numbers 155, including the spouses, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. We love you Mom!
