Edward Alfred Doutre

May 6, 1918 — March 10, 2008

Tremonton, UT – Edward Ed Alfred Doutre, 89, peacefully left this world to be reunited with his loved ones March 10, 2008. He was born May 6, 1918 to Alfred Doutre and Veda Rogers. September 1, 1941 he married his sweetheart Lela Thorpe in Malad, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple January 20, 1948. They were married for 61 years before her death in 2002.
In 1924 Edward began his education in Logan at the Whitter School where he completed 1st-4th grade. During the 4th grade he moved to Blue Creek with his Dad. Following his move, Edward and Harold his brother attended Blue Creek School 4th-9th grade. For one year he boarded with some friends of the family in Brigham where he attended Box Elder High his sophomore year. Later, when the school bus started to run from Snowville to Tremonton, Edward would ride his horse to the highway and meet the school bus to Bear River High where he graduated.
Dad was a man of great integrity and was always true to his word. He always gave everyone a fair deal and expected one in return. Dad was a very hard working man and had several professions. His passion and love was being a farmer; he owned and operated his farm in Blue Creek until his death. He was also a carpenter and took part in building many homes and other structures. He worked as a mechanic at Taylor Farm Service and later retired from the Box Elder County Road Shed as a heavy equipment mechanic. After that he really started his working career by helping his children add on to their homes, finish their basements, workshops and building his own garage where he spent countless hours wood crafting items for his loved ones. He enjoyed many years hunting with his friends and family. He could do anything and he taught all of us to work and work hard. The most important thing to Dad was his family. He loved visiting with each of his family members and always looked forward to seeing them.
Ed has 22 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. Dad is survived by his children: Edward Michael Doutre Karen, Plain City, Fred Thomas Doutre, North Ogden, Robert Eugene Doutre Diana, Tremonton, William Rogers Doutre Kay, Roy and Janet Lee Peavler Mark, Tremonton. Brothers: Ken Larson and Jerry Larson; brother-in-law, John Udy; sisters-in-law, Donna Hansen, Lila Thorpe and LuDean Larson.
