Edna Jean Johnson

LEWISTON – Edna "Jean" Johnson, 79, passed away April 19, 2008, on her sweetheart's birthday, at The Heritage Home in Preston, ID, after a struggle with illness for the past several years. She was born September 3, 1928 in Murray, UT, to Julius Harold and Edna Virginia Jamison Johnson. She married Gordon Herman Johnson, her "High School Sweetheart", on September 12, 1944 in Logan, UT. They were sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on March 26, 1947 for time and eternity. Following their marriage they settled in Lewiston where they operated a dairy farm and enjoyed and participated in all the community activities for 55 years. She was an active member of the LDS church and served in many callings throughout her life in the Lewiston Ward. Her favorite calling was a Relief Society Teacher and she loved to serve those in her ward and community. She served in the Baptistery at the Logan Temple where she enjoyed seeing the young people coming to the temple and also fulfilled a service mission at the Distribution Center in Logan. She enjoyed working at the Lewiston State Bank in Lewiston for 27 years and always felt blessed to have such a good job and work with such good people. She loved her Pinochle club friends and had such a good time with them for close to 50 years. She also enjoyed playing golf and quilting. Jean's first love was her family and always enjoyed being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed making beautiful afghans for all the new grandbabies. She is survived by her five children: Robert Johnson, Salt Lake City; Kathy Mike Lowe, Cub River, ID; Kim Cindy Johnson, Lewiston; Todd Laura Johnson, Kaysville; and Tedd Bonnie Johnson, Lewiston. Thirteen grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren, and one sister, Marion Doctor, Evergreen, CO, also survive her. Her parents, husband - Herman, one daughter, Peggy, and one brother, Keith preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at the Lewiston 3rd Ward Chapel, 16 South Main, with Bishop David Atkinson conducting. Friends and family may attend a viewing on Tuesday evening, April 22, 2008 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Church in Lewiston. There will also be a viewing prior to services at the church on Wednesday from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Lewiston City Cemetery. She was a beautiful, gracious lady and will be missed by all her family and friends.
