Edna Myrtle Harris

February 24, 1916 — January 30, 2003

TOGETHER FOREVER Our beloved mother, Edna Myrtle Christensen Harris age 86, returned home to Heavenly Father January 30, 2003. She was released after suffering 3 ½ years due to a stroke. Edna was born in Bothwell, Box Elder Co., Utah on Feb. 24, 1916 to Louis and Emily Blake Christensen. On Oct. 4 1934 she married Reed LaVon Harris in the Salt Lake Temple. They enjoyed 65 years together before his death on March 1, 2000. They lived on the farm in Bothwell until 1986 when they moved to Tremonton. She has been active in the LDS church all through her life, serving as President of the Primary and MIA, counselor in the Relief Society and in various other positions in all of the organizations. She and her husband worked with the youth as Stake M-Men and Gleaner leaders, and for many years took care of the widows in Bothwell and Tremonton 4th ward. She had a great love for all she served. Much of her time was spent working in her garden where she grew beautiful flowers as well as vegetables, which she lovingly shared with her neighbors. She crocheted hundreds of Afghans and doilies for her family and friends. Her greatest love was taking care of her family of 7 children, 49 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 2 great great granddaughters. Edna kept busy all her life. She served as the PTA president both local and District. She is a Charter member of the Hospital Volunteers. She was a member of the JayCees. She loved to play golf and said one of her most memorable times was when she played in Hawaii and won first place. She and Reed loved to travel throughout their lives. They traveled through the U. S., Europe, Canada, Mexico, Hawaii, and a cruise to the Caribbean touching in South America. Their travels were planned so they could attend the temples while seeing the world. Surviving are her seven children: LaDel LaRaine Harris, Bothwell; GaeLene Reed Miller, Elwood; Lana Paul Christensen, Tremonton; Alan Kathleen Harris, Bountiful; LuWayne Harris, Roy; Jann Jon Boss, Thatcher and Jacque Rick Whitecar, Washington Terrace. She was preceded in death by her husband, father and mother, 3 brothers, 1 sister and 1 granddaughter. Mother truly loved the gospel and her faith sustained her throughout her whole life. Her greatest joy was when she was sharing this with her family. Her friends and neighbors were recipients of her great love and compassion as she showed up on the doorstep with some homemade goodie to cheer them in time of need. What greater legacy could anyone hope for than to be truly loved and revered by so many. The family wishes to give their heartfelt thanks to the staff angels at the Pioneer Care Center in Brigham City and the Bear River Care Center in Tremonton for their loving and attentive care of Mom when she required it the most. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 3, 2003 12:00 noon at the Bothwell LDS Chapel, 10350 West 11600 North, Bothwell. Viewings will be Sunday, February 2, 2003 at the Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton, from 7:00 ? 9:00 p.m. and prior to the services on Monday in Bothwell from 10:30-11:40 a.m. Interment will be in the Bothwell Valley View Cemetery.
