Edith Poppleton Williamson Coburn

Edith Poppleton Williamson Coburn, 94, passed away December 6, 2002, at Franklin County Nursing Home in Preston. She was born June 27, 1908 to William Maughn Williamson and Mary Riggs Poppleton in Wellsville, UT. She attended school in Wellsville until 7th grade, finishing school in Smithfield and North Cache High School in Richmond, UT. She met and married Ronald Newton Coburn Feb.23, 1928. They lived in Franklin, ID for 2 years. They moved to Cedarville at the mouth of Weston Canyon, living on the Coburn Homestead where they loved to work together as well as riding horses through the hills and hunting. They raised 3 children, Mary VaLee Don W. Guy of Layton, UT; Ronald William Coburn Lila of Brigham City, UT; Donna Jane Don Masterson of Stockton , CA. She has 6 grandchildren 22 great grandchildren, and 12 great great grandchildren. Three sisters still living, Ruth Griffin, Logan, Celia Cronquist, Logan, and Ethel Greene of Smithfield. Preceding her in death brothers Floyd Williamson, Vernon Williamson, and Thomas Williamson who died in infancy. One Sister Aileen Scott. Grandson, Jon William Guy, and great grandson Anthony Lee Coburn, who died in infancy. She was a member of the LDS Church and served many years as a Visiting Teacher, as well as many jobs in Primary. She loved to sew and crochet beautiful afghans, house slippers, and made many things for the grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a Jazz fan always watching their games and loved to watch ''I Love Lucy'', and world wrestling entertainment. Doing her puzzle books and playing cards and games with grandchildren and neighborhood children, who love to come and see Grandma Coburn. She lived alone for 38 years, taking care of her home and yard up until the past two years. The family would like to express their thanks to all of her wonderful, caring neighbors and friends, especially Jason Hall and Carlos and Lucilla Rengifo. Thanks to the Franklin County Nursing Home for all the care they provided, and a special thanks to Lorin and Shelly, who were so caring. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 13, 2002 at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan. Friends and family may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home prior to services. Burial will be in the Weston, Idaho Cemetery.
