Dorothy Whittle Smith

Dorothy Whittle Smith, 94, passed away September 23, 2004 at Sunshine Terrace in Logan, Utah. Dorothy was born November 4, 1909 in Richmond, Utah, the daughter of Fredrick Harris Whittle and Dorothy Minnie Thomas Whittle. She was raised and educated in Richmond, except for a short period when the family moved to Weiser, Idaho. She graduated from North Cache High School in 1927. Dorothy married Melvin Smith on May 17, 1930 in Preston, Idaho. Their union was later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple. She was a life-long, faithful member of the LDS church, holding many positions in the church and in her later life, spending a lot of time doing temple work. Dorothy is survived by one brother, John Whittle; one son, Chad F. Smith Nancy; and one daughter, Janice Smith. She is also survived by four granddaughters, Cindy Teuscher Joel; Trina Balls LaMar; Suzette Rock Ryan; Sandi Lee Hansen Willy; 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Thomas Whittle and twin sisters, Mary Weller and Elizabeth Fisher. Funeral services for Dorothy will be held at 12:00 noon Monday, September 27, 2004 at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan. A viewing will begin at 10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
