Ogden, UT – Dorothy Hansen Kirby, 83, passed away Friday, February 5, 2010 in her home peacefully. She was born March 30, 1926 in Logan, UT, daughter of Varion William and Mabel Ellen Birch Hansen. She was reared and educated in Logan, UT and Preston, ID. She married Verl Kirby September 4, 1942 in the Logan LDS Temple. Verl died August 2, 2005.
Dorothy was well known to her friends as Dottie. She was a beautiful seamstress, making wedding dresses, temple clothing and tailoring clothing for a local business. Dorothy spent many hours donating time at the Logan Regional Hospital as a pink lady, also has done various book keeping occupations and many wonderful years at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home in Tremonton, UT.
Dorothy served many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed many wonderful years working in the Logan, Ogden and St. George Temples.
She was a great mom and loving grandmother and will be greatly missed.
Surviving, one daughter, Karen Kirby Kendrick, Bountiful, UT; three sons: Brent Deanne Kirby, Chino Halls, CA, Jeffery LeAnn H. Kirby, Perry, UT and Shane W. Kirby, Ogden, UT; 14 grandchildren and 15 great- grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by husband, Verl Kirby and one son, Bradley J. Kirby.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 8, 2010 at the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery. There will be a viewing for family and friends Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton, UT.
