Doris Geanette Kunzler Thompson, beloved wife and mother passed away Saturday, March 24th, 2007, after an extended illness. Doris was born March 12, 1918 in Rosette Park Valley, Utah. She was the second daughter of J. Henry and Edna Pugsley Kunzler. Five girls were born to that union. Doris had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ from an early age. It grew stronger each day she lived. She grew up on a cattle ranch and as she had no brothers, she spent many hours doing manly chores on their ranch. Doris possessed a very brilliant mind. She was the first female valedictorian of Box Elder High School, graduating in 1936. She received her R.N. Degree from LDS Nursing Academy in Salt Lake City, Utah. She enlisted in the Army Nurse Corps in World War II and there met her eternal companion, Jack C. Thompson. They were married in Vancouver, Washington on April 5, 1942. Jack was also in the Army and had to leave for duty in Alaska the next day. They did not see each other again for 18 months. They were sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on August 3, 1944. While Jack was in Alaska, Doris worked as a Public Health Nurse. Doris always wanted to teach ? so when the children started school she went the Utah State University and received her Bachelor?s degree in Education. She later received her Masters Degree in Special Education and taught Special Ed until she retired. The greatest field she excelled in was being a wife and mother. She and her husband filled an LDS mission to Jessup, Georgia. Doris was an ardent temple worker and spent many hours working in the Logan Temple office. She taught many Sunday School classes, along with other church callings. They are the parents of three children: Keith M. Thompson, Arlene Bill Bertolio and Max D. Lanice Thompson. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, one sister Afton Jones, Martinez California, 3 children, 12 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
