Ecclesiastes 7:1 mentions, "A good name is better than good oil, and the day of death is better than the day of birth". Doris Elaine Blackman was born April 13, 1940, and passed away on November 12, 2024, at 84 years old. She was a wonderful Mother of two boys, Christopher & Dominic, and a beloved wife to Lewis Ray Blackman. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Doris spent most of her early life in New Mexico, having been born in Gallup and raised in Vaughn where she eventually met her future husband, Lewis Blackman. After honorably serving in the Air Force, he moved to Vaughn to assist his dad who was a Ranch Manager for one of the many ranches in the area. Lewis met and fell in love with this lovely Italian girl, Doris, while she was working as a waitress in town. They Married February 12, 1962, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Doris was an artistic person who enjoyed painting and drawing. She also enjoyed tending to her house plants & flowers. She was Baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on August 8, 1974, and was an active member of the Congregation till her health declined. She enjoyed the promise that the Bible gives about the future hope for earth & mankind; a hope she looked forward to herself.
From the day she was born her life was an open book and she filled those pages with a beautiful life, facing life’s ups & downs with her husband Lewis of 62 years and her strong faith in Jehovah God. She truly did establish a beautiful name for herself.
Doris is survived by her husband Lewis, their oldest son Christopher and his children Tyler & Alexis, their youngest son Dominic & his wife Karen. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
A memorial service for Doris Blackman will be held on Saturday, November 23 at 4pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
