Donna Lou Reeder Pitcher

November 30, 1925 — May 2, 2018

Donna Lou Reeder Pitcher, 92, passed May 2, 2018. She did it her way.
She was born November 30, 1925 in Smithfield, Utah to Golden F. Reeder and Lois Fontella Bingham. She was the sixth child and third daughter in the family. Two brothers completed the family. She lived in Smithfield all of her life.
She met and married Richard M. Pitcher. They had four children Rebecca Ann, Maurice, Paul and Marilyn. Mom expected her children to do what was right, respect others, and be responsible. She worked hard all of her life. She sacrificed to provide and care for her children. She planted a garden and canned fruits and vegetables for the winter. She had food storage long before it was popular.
She got a job at Sky View in the food service to help support Maurice in the mission field. She worked there many years and was the supervisor for several years. The hot rolls and honey butter are still remembered fondly by students and faculty.
After retirement she and dad enjoyed road trips and camping with Golda and Keith McCombs. After Dad passed away she continued to live independently in her home. She loved irises and ordered prizewinners to plant in her flowerbeds. She raised beautiful hibiscus flowers. Strangers would stop and ask her about the flowers and photograph them.
She was a faithful member of the LDS church. She loved to serve others and always signed up to provide food for funerals and other compassionate service opportunities. She ministered to others all of her life.
Her parents Golden and Fontella, siblings: Paul, Lois, Golda, Billy, Jack, and Le Grand precede her in death. Two grandsons Chad Crockett and Wade Grunig, great-grandson Matthew Nielsen, and son-in-law Ivan B. Neilson also preceded her passing.
She survived by her children Rebecca, Maurice (Linda), Paul (Elaine), and Marilyn (Allen) Grunig. She has 14 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great -grandchildren. Corky Reeder (brother), Lafaye Reeder (sister-in-law), Leah Dawn Reeder (sister-in-law), and Cleone Riafaat (sister-in-law) also survive her.
She was a person who made many friends and was always interested in others. She was blessed with many friends both young and old. In October she chose to move to Autumn Care because she needed more help. She loved and appreciated the staffs at Autumn Care, who were her friends. She enjoyed her new young friends who shared their lives with her.
