Our sweet mother, Donna Lee Nickolaisen, passed away September 3, 2008 in Eagle, Idaho, after a brief and fiercely fought battle with kidney cancer. Donna Lee was born September 12, 1935, in Liberty, Idaho to Raymond and Zora Peterson. She enjoyed growing up in Montpelier, Idaho with her five brothers, loving parents, and extended family. She had many opportunities there and became an accomplished pianist and flutist. She was also an excellent artist, seamstress, and life-long learner. Donna Lee married Darrel Lloyd Nickolaisen on July 12, 1955 in the Logan LDS Temple. They resided in Bear River City, Utah for 42 years. Mom and Dad gave their children the gift of loving one another deeply, and our mother cared for Dad so sweetly for many, many years. They are the parents of seven children. Donna Lee was an incredible mother who supported and encouraged us in everything we did, and who taught us the value of hard work and education. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and taught us by example the peace that comes through living a life centered on our Savior Jesus Christ. She served in numerous callings in the Primary, Young Women's, Sunday School, and Relief Society. Our mother was also active in many civic organizations, including the PTA and The Northern Utah Camera Club. She volunteered in schools, was active in local politics, and enjoyed her work at the Brigham City Museum. She is survived by her children; Darrel and Cindy Nickolaisen, Lori and Ron Purcell, Niel and Karen Nickolaisen, Scott and Julann Nickolaisen, Marta and Lynden Bennett, Marcene and Clay Taylor, and Janette and Brigham Douglas, 23 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and her brothers Karl, Max Karen, Ross Kay, Reed Rolana, and Brent Noralyn Peterson. Her husband and her sister-in-law, Jean, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2008 in the Bear River City LDS Chapel with Bishop Steve Stewart officiating. The family will greet friends prior to the service from 9:30 – 10:45. In lieu of flowers donations may be made at America First Credit Union, 35 E. 100 S. Brigham City, Utah to the Nickolaisen Memorial Park Elwood, Utah Fund.
