Donna Heaps, 83, passed away at home due to pancreatic cancer on April 1, 2004, in Smithfield, Utah. She was born March 23, 1921, in Weston, Idaho to Franklin John and Mary Arminda Olsen Godfrey. She received her schooling at Clarkston Elementary and North Cache High School. She married Walter Gordon. They had five daughters and were later divorced. She married Albert Heaps on November 29, 1952 in Winnemucca, Nevada. Albert and Donna were sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on December 9, 1964. Albert had three daughters from his previous marriage. Donna loved and raised Albert?s girls as her own. Albert and Donna were blessed with two wonderful sons. Family always came first for Donna. She worked at Arden?s Dress Shop and Keith O?Brien for many years. She later worked for the school lunch program at Summit Elementary School. Donna was an excellent cook. Donna was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She sent both sons on LDS missions. She served as a visiting teacher until her passing, taught in the Primary, served in the MIA, sang with the choir, served as the ward librarian, and served in many positions in the Relief Society. She is survived by her husband of 51 years; her two sons, Kent Mary Lou Heaps, Lakewood, CA; Kevin Chris Heaps, Logan, UT; five daughters, Mary Sam Riter, South Ogden, UT; Carole Ken Smith, Sandy, UT; Faye Skabelund, Mesa, AZ; Maureen Carlos Elwood, Ogden, UT; Nansi Don Hobbs, Mesa, AZ; and three step-daughters, Shirley Steve Gracek, Denver, CO; Vella Blaine Durrant, Lewiston, UT; Alberta Maurice Mather, Smithfield, UT. She is survived by a sister Naomi Orson Parker, Los Alamitos, CA; half-sister Jean Leonard Lloyd, Blackfoot, ID; and half-brother Lennis Godfrey, CA. She had 50 grandchildren, 100 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister Wilma Fred Bowcutt and 4 granchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 5, 2004 in the Smithfield LDS 2nd Ward church house located at 175 S 100 W in Smithfield, Utah. Friends and family may call from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday evening, April 4, 2004 at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, Smithfield, Utah and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday morning at the church prior to services.
