Don A. Simmons

August 20, 1923 — November 4, 2008

A life-long and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Don Arthur Simmons of Providence, Utah passed away on November 4, 2008. Don was born August 20, 1923 in Los Angeles, California to Wallace and Willmirth Hundley Simmons. He married his sweetheart, Louise Hulda Jones, on May 7, 1949. They began their home and family in Granite, Utah. Their desire to serve a mission took them and their young family to the mission field of northwestern Montana where they raised their family. Over the years Don was able to work closely with the missionaries when he served as a Branch President and on six stake missions. In 1991 he and Louise moved to Cache Valley to be closer to family. They were blessed to serve together for ten years as officiators in the Logan LDS Temple; a highlight of those years was his playing the organ in the chapel for prayer meetings. Don is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, and one granddaughter, April Palicz Gooch. He is survived by Louise and children: Steven and Linda Simmons, Mrs. Randy Linda Wiedmeier, Mrs. Dennis Janet Stapley, Mrs. Stan Shirley Kauffman, Gary and Cossette Simmons, and Mark and Chandra Simmons, 28 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Providence South Stake Center, 360 East 450 North, Millville, Utah. There will be a viewing held on Monday, November 10, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan and prior to the service on Tuesday at the church from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. Interment will take place in the Millville Cemetery.
