Don Dee Hortin

Honeyville - Don Dee Hortin, 76, quietly passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at his home in Honeyville, UT.
Dee was born April 10, 1930 in Oakley, UT, to William Eugene Hortin and Pearl Esther Franson. Dee married his ?angel?, ReNae Firth, on November 21, 1951, in the Logan, UT, LDS Temple where they were sealed for time and all eternity. They moved to Honeyville in 1960 and raised all their children there.
Dee attended Utah State University and graduated with a Master?s Degree in Animal Husbandry and Agricultural Science. He was a County Extension Agent for five years in Superior, MT. He taught at Box Elder High School for 27 years and was a real estate agent for five years after he retired from teaching. He was on the Honeyville Town Board, a Board Member of the Box Elder County Credit Union and was a participant in many programs at the Box Elder County Fair.
Dee loved spending time outdoors with his dog, Sonny, his horses, chickens, ducks, and other farm animals. Dee and ReNae loved to go on vacation and have traveled to many places including Spain and Mexico. Their favorite vacation spot was Paris, ID, camping with family and caring for their ranchette.
Dee was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many organizations of the church, including Branch President, Bishop, Teacher, the Scouting Program, Home Teacher, and others. He and ReNae served a mission to Independence, MO in 1993 for one year.
Dee is survived by his wife, daughters; Dixie Paul Yoder, Holly Doug Lineback, and sons; Chris TanjaLyn Hortin, Barry Debbie Hortin, and Cole Lee Hortin, 22 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Also, surviving is one brother, Kay Hortin. Dee was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Dale Hortin and Kent Hortin; and an infant sister, Gwen Hortin.
Services will be held Saturday, May 27, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at the Honeyville LDS Ward Chapel, 2620 West 6980 North, Honeyville, with Bishop Blair Perry officiating. Friends and family may call Friday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton, UT, and also Saturday from 9:30-10:40 a.m. at the church. Interment at Bothwell Valleyview Cemetery.
