Viola Dolores Williams Petersen passed away Thursday April 25, 2019, at the age of 85 in Hyde Park, Utah. Dolores was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Almon and Viola Williams on June 9, 1933. She was an extremely hardworking and talented woman. She was employed by the Salt Lake Donut Company and the Granite School District Central Kitchen for several years. She loved animals, was a fabulous cook and was well known for her candy making skills. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, cross stitching and tole painting.
She raised her family with her husband, Dean, in Magna, Utah. After retirement they moved to Bear Lake Idaho where they had built their dream home. In 2003, they moved to Preston, Idaho (River Dale) and then in 2014 settled in Hyde Park, Utah. Even after they moved to a retirement community in Hyde Park five years ago, she still had the prettiest flowerbeds and the most perfectly groomed yard in the neighborhood.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Robert Almon Williams (Moran Creek, WA), and her husband of 64 years, Dean C. Petersen (December, 2018).
She is survived by her sister, Nancy Carol Van Hulst, (South Carolina); her son Michael Petersen (Linda dec.) of Farmington AR; son Brent Petersen of Nibley, UT; and daughter Rhonda Derrick (Steve) of Logan, UT. In addition, Dolores was blessed with six grandchildren, four step grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers at Autumn Care of Hyde Park for looking after Dolores these past few months.
At Dolores’ request, there will be no public service. Interment will be at Hyde Park Cemetery.
