Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Derwood Lehi Clawson. was called home to his eternal Father Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at his home surrounded by family. Derwood was born October 31, 1920 to Lehi and Marvil Clawson of Hyrum and was the eldest of five children. He attended Lincoln Elementary and South Cache High Schools. He worked beside his father on the family diary farm before being called in the spring of 1941 to serve an LDS mission to the Northern States. Upon his return Derwood served with the Merchant Marines in the South Pacific and European campaigns during WWII. While on leave in the spring of 1945 he met his sweetheart, Beth Mackay at the Military Ball. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan LDS Temple on January 4, 1946 and made their home in Hyrum. Derwood continued to work in the dairy industry, building his own successful dairy, as well as for Logan Laundry and ABS. Derwood?s love for the gospel was expressed through services as ward clerk, MIA President, Seventy?s presidency, and High Priest group leadership. But his most memorable was later on in life when he was able to serve two LDS missions with his eternal companion, first to the North Carolina Mission and later as officiators in the Chicago Temple. They also served for nine years as Logan Temple officiators. For many years, Derwood enjoyed his association with the Hyrum Lion?s Club. He is survived by his wife Beth, his children: Terry Noreen, Shyrl Raeleene, Jana Gary Dunn, Gordon Beckie, Charlene Kevin Clawson, Roger Darilyn; 21 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; his brother Gary, sisters: Shirley Ashworth, Myrna Nielsen and sister-in-law, Carol Clawson. He was receded in death by his parents; his brother Lloyd; his son, Kevin and his grandson, Tyler. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Monday April 4, 2005 at the Hyrum Stake Center, 600 South 200 East, Hyrum. Services will be conducted by Bishop Charles Graham. A viewing will be held Sunday, April 3, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan and from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. on Monday at the Hyrum Stake Center.
