Dennis Martin Riser

December 21, 1936 — January 14, 2008

Riverside, UT – Dennis Martin Riser, born December 21, 1936 in East Garland, Utah. He died January 14, 2008 at his home in Riverside, Utah. He is the son of Martin Herman Riser and Hazel Grover Riser. He graduated from Bear River High and Steven’s Henagar College with a degree in accounting. He served two years in the United States Army and was stationed in Japan. He married Janet Shaw and they are the parents of four children. They resided in East Garland, Arizona and California, then returned to raise their children in Tremonton, Utah. They were later divorced. Dennis then married Elaine Nielsen of Hyrum, Utah. They resided in Eagle, Idaho for eleven years. While there, they were sealed in the Boise LDS Temple.
Dennis was employed by Thiokol, Sears, and Young Electric Sign Company before he and Elaine began their own advertising business. They then moved back to Utah.
Dennis held many church positions which included: secretary of both Elder and High Priest Quorums, High Priest Group Leader, Teacher in both Sunday School and Primary, Ward Clerk, and his favorite calling was teaching the Cub Scouts. He is survived by his loving wife, his mother, his children: Christy Lafe Bingham, Mike Katie, Alan Larraine, DeNene John Petersen, Ron Camille Saltern, Kevin Saltern, David Anna Saltern, Darin Kristy Saltern. 24 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, brothers: Brent DeeLou and Lynn Riser.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Friday, January 18, 2008 at Belmont Second Ward Chapel, 16925 North 5200 West, Riverside, Utah. A viewing will be held Thursday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton, Utah and one hour prior funeral services at the church. Interment will be at the East Garland Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank Hospice Alliance, especially Ryan, Shelise, Stacey, Misty, and Andrea. You were terrific. Heartfelt thanks to all of Dennis and Elaine’s great neighbors, with special thanks to Reese and Mary Marble for their many months of service and support.
