Dennis LaVelle Newton

1944 — 2024

Dennis LaVelle Newton, a dedicated and hard-working individual, passed away on September 24, 2024 at the age of 80. Born on January 7, 1944, Dennis led a life defined by his unwavering commitment to his work.

Dennis began his career as a mechanic in the auto industry, where he honed his skills and displayed an exceptional talent for his craft. He later transitioned to working as a mechanic on the farm, where his expertise and strong work ethic shone brightly. Throughout his career, he was known for being straightforward, often expressing his thoughts frankly, which sometimes earned him a reputation for being a bit ornery.

In addition to his work, Dennis proudly served in the 115th Maintenance Division for the Utah Army National Guard for over 30 years. His military service was a testament to his dedication and love for his country.

Dennis cherished the great outdoors; he grew up riding motorcycles and enjoyed water and snow skiing. Fishing with friends brought him joy as well, creating lasting memories throughout his life. In his later years, Dennis developed a deep interest in family history genealogy work, allowing him to connect with his heritage and family roots in meaningful ways.

He is survived by his brother, Randy Newton; and nephew, Marcus (Lacey) Newton, along with their two sons, Skyler and Jeremiah. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents and sister-in-law, Connie Chatelain Newton.

A graveside service to honor Dennis’s life will be held on October 1, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Larkin Sunset Garden in Sandy, Utah. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate a man who was not only a devoted worker but also a person of principle and strength.
